The Multiplayer Memory Card Game for the Family

Game Instructions: Memory

Objective: The objective of the game is to have the least amount of cards with the lowest face values by the end of the game.

Setup:

  1. Each player is given four face-down cards in front of them.
  2. At the beginning of the game, each player looks at two of their own cards.
  3. After looking at their cards, players must return them back face down and cannot look at them again.

Gameplay:

  1. The game starts with the player that has read the bible most recently, and continues clockwise.
  2. On their turn, a player can either pick up a card from the face-up pile or the face-down draw pile in the center of the table.
  3. After picking up a card, the player must look at it and decide how to play it.
  4. The player can either: a. Play the card into the face-up pile. b. Swap it with one of their own face-down cards and play the swapped card into the face-up pile.
  5. It's important to note that some cards have abilities that only activate when they're placed face up in the middle pile.
  6. Once the player has taken their action, the turn passes to the next player.

Card Values and Abilities:

  1. Each card is assigned a face value:
    • Jacks: 13 points
    • Queens: 15 points
    • Red Kings: 20 points
    • Black Kings: 0 points
  2. Some cards have special abilities that are triggered as soon as they are played:
    • Jacks: Allow you to swap one of your cards with someone else's card. This is the only time that cards can be rearranged allowing the possibility of people tracking card ; )
    • Queens: Let you look at one of your own cards.

Snapping:

  1. Any player can attempt to snap their face-down cards onto the current face-up card if the card numbers match.
  2. If a player successfully snaps a matching card, they have gotten rid of one of their cards and it is removed from the game.
  3. However, if a player attempts to snap a card that does not match the current face-up card (a false snap), that player must draw 3 cards from the face-down draw pile without looking at them.
  4. If a false snap occurs, no more snaps can be attempted until the next player takes their turn.
  5. If a player notices a valid snap opportunity but another player has already picked up a card and is looking at it on their turn, they are not allowed to snap.

Ending the Game:

  1. The game continues until a player "calls" at the end of their turn, indicating the end of the game.
  2. After a player calls, every other player takes one more turn.
  3. Once it gets back to the player who called, all players flip their cards over and reveal their face values.
  4. Scores are tallied up by adding the face values of the cards each player has.
  5. The player with the least amount of cards and the lowest overall score wins the game.
